One-act plays by Minnesota High School students now being accepted!

Submit your one-act play by January 15, 2026

Welcome! We’re excited to have piqued your interest in Young Minnesota Playwrights (“YMP”). In 2026, we will select and develop six original one-act plays by writers in Minnesota high schools. To get started, please see below how to submit your play.

Young Minnesota Playwrights encourages students to tell their stories through playwriting.

Open to all Minnesota Students! To be eligible you must:

• Be enrolled in grade 9 - 12

• Attend a public, charter, private school in Minnesota.

• Be recommended by an English or Theatre teacher

How to Apply

• Student submits the STUDENT PROFILE AND PLAY SUBMISSION FORM

  • In this form the student will answer questions about themselves, describe their play, and upload a copy of the play.

• Teacher submits TEACHER RECOMMENDATION FORM

  Submission Deadline is January 15, 2026
