Young Minnesota Playwrights gives young writers a chance to develop their voice by writing for the stage.
Write and Submit Your First Draft
We invite you to submit a 10 - 15 page script or outline of a play, along with a teacher recommendation. If selected, you’d be making a big commitment to participate in our YMP Festival 2027.

Teachers Play a Leading Role
Teachers, here iswhat you can do to help your students prepare to submit a short play to Young Minnesota Playwrights by February 15, 2027
1) Work with your student to develop a script or play outline to submit by the deadline. You can find Guidelines Here.
2) Complete the theacher recommendation form, once identifying prospective students.
3) Register for this three-part series called, Teach your Students Elements of Playwriting.
